Talaheim Lodge is located eighty-five miles west of Anchorage and offers a unique fly out fly fishing experience. Located on the Talachulitna River in a remote location, Talaheim has access to one of the great pacific salmon and rainbow trout fisheries in Alaska.
What makes Talaheim Lodge unique is that Talaheim is the only lodge operation in Alaska to own and utilise helicopters to fly its guests to the huge number of rivers and streams in the Talachulitna drainage. Each day anglers are flown into new water and due to the speed and accessibility of these crafts you can be assured of fishing remote, untouched waters and not expect to see another angler during your stay.

The lodge is a family-owned operation and constructed from local timbers from the onsite sawmill. It can cater for six to eight guests. it is quite private and remote and offers accommodation in three separate log cabins. Each cabin is equipped with all the modern conveniences together with a log-burner or central heating.
The main lodge is the hub of activities and is where you have breakfast and your evening meal. It is the place to share stories and tales of the day's events.
Talaheim is primarily a fishing lodge, however, the lodge does offer a variety of wilderness activities for the non-fisher, from Glacier tours to camping, hiking and jet boat rides.
This is a unique setting in a remote location which is suited to avid fisherman and explorer alike.

All of the fly-fishermen's favourite Alaskan species are present in rivers surrounding Talaheim. Late June and July offer excellent king salmon fishing, while August and September offer excellent silver salmon, rainbow trout and dolly varden fishing. Grayling, Char and Pike are also available.
A typical day starts around 7:30am with breakfast. Lunch is out on the river and you are back to the lodge at 5:00pm.
Pack single-handed fly rods or switch rods 5/6# Trout to 9# for salmon. There is equipment at the lodge but it is recommended you advise them of your requirements before booking. Similarly, waders are useful but no felt soles or again advise the lodge as they have some that guests can use.
Spinning gear is available to use at the lodge if you fancy a break from fly fishing.

The transfer from Anchorage airport to the lodge is by private helicopter. It takes approximately forty-five minutes.
